HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR RACKETS
Several factors influence the choice of your snowshoes but what you must take into account the most is the type of terrain and the use you wish to make. Do you want snowshoes to walk on already well-trodden trails? For your off-road mountain expeditions?
TRAILS AND FLAT TERRAIN
For a flat trail, you have the dream playground for racing snowshoes. Check that your model is very flexible and has a slightly curved shape to allow you to move around without difficulty.
MOUNTAIN
In the mountains, you will need snowshoes with good crampons. Uncrowded trails and off-piste will be no match for your snowshoes.
COMPACT SNOW AND GROOMED TRAILS
If the snow is super compact, you might as well opt to go up with your snowboard or add crampons to your boots. Otherwise a pair of all-purpose snowshoes will do the job.
YOUR WEIGHT WILL INFLUENCE YOUR CHOICE
No need for ultra complicated calculations to find the fit that suits you. Leave the Pythagorean Theorem in your old school books and read our "Detailed Specifications" section to choose the right size racquets between S/M/L. We pretty much cover all weights from 65lbs to 300lbs.
MAN, WOMAN OR CHILD?
At this point, it's a question of color because rackets are chosen according to weight and not gender. So let go loose take them yellow, red, blue, white. Male or female no difference. On the other hand, for children who are quite a bit lighter, you will need snowshoes specifically for children.
SNOWSHOES OR SPLITBOARD?
Are you hesitating between snowshoes or a splitboard? It all depends on what you want to do. The splitboard is the choice for you if you are tired of dragging your snow on your back when you do off-piste expeditions. You can go up directly with your splitboard in ski version and descend the slopes with the board afterwards. Snowshoes will be the option for you if you are a fan of hiking. You can go everywhere and climb steep slopes. On the other hand, if you want to ride once you reach the summit, you must take into consideration that you will have an extra snow to drag.

You thought about equipping yourself with snowshoes but now what are you missing? We are giving you some ideas that will surely help you not to forget anything.
HIKING POLES
Hiking poles aren't just for the golden age. You will especially appreciate them if you go into the mountains. They will help you on the climb, stabilize you if the ground is slippery and save your knees…in short, only advantages!
GAITERS
Did an avalanche fall the day before your expedition? It could be no worse throughout to put on gaiters to prevent the snow from getting into your boots.
HEADLAMP
You don't have to be a light to bring a headlamp when you go on an expedition. With the shorter winter days, the sometimes frozen trails and the weather that does what it wants, we strongly advise you to take a headlamp with you before leaving. You never know, it might be more convenient than you think.
THE IDEAL CLOTHING ON SNOWSHOES
MULTI-LAYER
We can never say it enough but in winter it's all about multi layering. And since we like you, we share our must-have list:
· Synthetic or merino sweater (avoid at all costs cotton which retains moisture)
· Small insulated coat to cut you off from the wind and snow
Toque or hat
· Neck warmer or balaclava if it is very cold
· Mittens or gloves (tip: put small magic gloves inside your mittens if they are big enough to leave space)
Lined leggings
· Snow pants (must cut wind and snow)
Merino wool bottom
· Waterproof boots that are lined (we told you about snowshoes above, it's a good option)
Goggles (to protect your eyes from extreme cold or strong wind, you could take your ski goggles)
